Acoustical and Total Cleaning Services Co. is a full-service provider of building maintenance services that has been operating since 1983. During this time, we have expanded our organization from a small ‘mom and pop’ operation to a well rounded cooperative with a focus of giving back to the community that has provided for us. We do this in a variety of ways including: providing employment to those in need; donating our time and services to organizations in need; participating in fundraising initiatives; and monetary donations.

 

Employment for Individuals with Lived Experience

Acoustical has been committed to providing employment opportunities to individuals of all backgrounds for more than 25 years. We have done this by partnering with hiring organizations and working with social agencies to strengthen the community we live in and help those in need. Our organization is always open to receiving referrals and actively hire individuals who have experienced homelessness, helping them transition back into the workforce.

Acoustical ensures our employees receive the training they need to succeed, not only in our organization, but in ANY organizations, with the goal to help individuals raise themselves above poverty. We provide classroom-based skill development, on site job training and de-escalation training, and even emergency response and life saving assistance like Narcan and naloxone administration.

We are connected to a vast network of support services to help those suffering from health conditions and mental illness to find the care they will need to build brighter futures.

 

Newcomers to Canada

As a women owned organization founded by immigrants, Acoustical has a long history of helping newcomers to Canada find their footing in the Canadian workforce. The goal of our operation is to provide job opportunities to those lacking workforce skills, and to help provide them with long-term success in a new country. We help ease the transition and provide new coming families with support while helping migrant workers understand the work culture and laws of a differing job market.

Acoustical understands the stress and tension of being an individual new to the country and customs around them. We actively work to alleviate this by providing job training and company handouts in multiple languages, sending mentors with newcomers to translate work scopes, and offering new job positions to those within the organization first. Our talented administrated staff work hard helping newcomers with filing important documentation and applying for additional courses such as ESL.

 

Collaboration with Indigenous Communities

Acoustical has been an advocate for minority groups for most of its company history, and this includes working with indigenous communities. We have worked hard to build trust and respect within the communities that we serve. We have worked diligently with local band offices and businesses to connect indigenous individuals with the training necessary for current and future job opportunities. We are proud of our history of collaboration with indigenous communities and are actively working to improve our employment strategies, including organizing transportation and performing casual interviews in person or over the phone, to encourage more indigenous participation.

 

Donations

Acoustical supports a variety of non-profit organization in a variety of ways including:

Offering janitorial and building maintenance services for cost of worker wages.

Acoustical works with many organizations such as Bissell Center, Civida, GEF and other entities providing emergency services and general cleaning services for cost of wages. We understand that sometimes budgets are tight but everyone deserves to live, work, and move into a clean and healthy environment.

Providing support for and participating in fundraising initiatives such as golf tournaments, silent auctions, and barbeques.

Acoustical provides support for and participates in fundraising initiatives yearly for organizations such as Crimestoppers, Regional Search & Rescue and Emergency Medical Services Foundation, Edmonton Firefighters Association, Greater Edmonton Foundation for Seniors, and the Mustard Seed. This allows us to give back to the community and ensures that everyone has a great time while doing it!

Monetary Donations

Acoustical has a yearly fund for monetary donations to local charities and regularly donates to entities like the Mustard Seed, the Edmonton Food Bank, the Stollery Children’s Hospital, and Operation Friendship Society.
